As great as gaming has become online, it’s also fun to jump off of the headsets to face friends and family members face to face. That’s right, it’s time to get old school with board game night and these nine offerings are easy to set up for some post-Holiday fun. They’re some of the funniest board and card games from 2022. It’s never too late to jump into a quick board game or two from the previous year
9 Gensmak
Gensmak is a trivia game that uses questions across five generations including the Greatest, Boomer, Gen X, Millennial, and Gen Z. Every card has a category on it like Shows and Films. One card may ask what traps are set up in Home Alone, for example. Answer correctly and the card is won.
Total victory is achieved once a player reaches twenty cards and at least one card from each generation must be held. There’s not much of a trick to the game but the questions are insightful.
8 If You Know You Know
If You Know You Know is a bit more elaborate of a card game. Everyone gets the A, B, C, and D cards so that they can guess how the reader will answer a question. An example would be what type of movie the reader would go to most between a horror, comedy, action, or drama movie.
Everyone uses their answer cards to guess and points are rewarded if they can guess the reader’s answer. The game sounds more complex than it is but with practice it’ll become easier and it’s a great game to solidify friendships.
7 Incohearant
No, Incohearant is not spelled wrong as this is a place on words. The setup is similar to Mad Gab wherein players read a bizarre statement on a card. The statement is a word scramble that if said correctly will unlock the answer.

For example, “Bin Joe Wad Shin” becomes the clearer answer to binge-watching. There is a goal to the game with scores to keep, but the best part about playing it is hearing players struggle with these word riddles.
6 Linkee
Linkee is a game beloved by Nick Jonas who helped bring the game over to the States. It’s a trivia game wherein four mini-boss questions will reveal the linked question at the bottom. For example, there is a Game of Thrones question with that as the final answer.
The four sub-questions pertain to Dragons, Walls, Stark, and Snow. If the team guesses the correct answer, they get the card which has a letter on the back. The overall goal is to get enough cards to spell “Linkee” which can be tricky. It’s an imaginative quiz game with a bit of strategy to it that puts it above others.
5 Soundiculous
Soundiculous is a card game that will test how well players can make noises. For every person playing, five cards must be thrown into a pile on the playing field. Each card has two words on it and the reader can choose to make the sound of either word.
For example, there is a card wherein players must sound like either a Dinosaur or a Bear. The game keeps going until all cards are played and points are then totaled. Like Incohearant, the fun is listening to players struggle with noises.
4 Sounds Fishy
Sounds Fishy is like a reverse quiz game wherein the question reader has to guess the answer to their card while everyone else lies except one truth-teller. The question reader has to strategically guess the wrong answers first, leading up to the correct answer to get the most points. An example question would be, “Saturday Morning is the name of a beer flavored with what?”

The answer to that question is Lucky Charms and a trickster could say Frosted Flakes as their answer. The real answer is wild and that’s what makes these card games so great to play as they make learning fun as cliche as that sounds.
3 Tell Me Without Telling Me
Tell Me Without Telling Me is a game about pure comedy. There is a stack of cards with categories such as People, Traits, Things, and Places. There is also a separate NSFW deck to shuffle in or out of the equation.
The reader draws a card and then has to make their team guess the answer based on certain actions. These actions are dictated by a dice roll. For example, the titular Show Don’t Tell modifier forces the player to mime answers silently. One can imagine how funny it is to watch someone mime how Lightsabers work.
2 The Worst Case Scenario
The Worst Case Scenario is the most complex game on here but still a blast. The reader spins a dial, dictating the overall vibe of their journey. They then draw a series of cards, like one question saying they stapled their finger.
The reader then ranks their cards and the other players have to guess what that ranking is with chips. If the other players guess the correct order, they get points. It’s a bit like If You Know You Know but a bit more brutal as some of the cards can be a bit gruesome but in a hilarious way.
1 Zillionaires
Zillionaires is the most traditional board game of the bunch. It’s a bit like a combination of Monopoly and Bingo but things move quickly. Players have to buy auctioned-off roadside attractions to win placement on the board and there’s even a mini gavel to bang.
Four squares in a row will result in a victory, although requirements can change based on the number of players. The best part about the game is learning about these real attractions in the U.S. including a large toilet in Columbus, Ohio.
