In the event we’re treated to a shootout, the Eagles’ LeSean McCoy is likely to be in the middle of the action. “Shady” is on the Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook’s props board at 84.5 total rushing yards.
In a Week 1, come-from-behind win against the Jacksonville Jaguars, McCoy was held to 74 yards on 21 carries (3.5 yards per carry). He ceded 11 totes to Darren Sproles, who collected 71 yards – including a 49-yard TD scamper. McCoy still turned in a strong 2014 debut, but much of his contribution came through the air (six catches, 41 yards) instead of between the tackles.
It’s also worth noting that last week was the first time Sproles carried the rock 10 or more times in a game since the 2011 season. Perhaps the Eagles view Sproles as a different player, but odds are against him consistently seeing double-digit carries.
Indianapolis allowed only 3.2 YPC in their loss against the Broncos in Week 1, but Denver doesn’t boast a player of McCoy’s caliber.
The biggest risk to consider if betting the OVER with McCoy is that he could easily finish with 130-140 total yards, with only 80 coming on the ground. With that said, Shady averaged 100.4 yards rushing per game in 2013 and 5.1 YPC, and there’s no reason to believe those numbers are due for a steep regression.
